Cross Way Publications

On May 4, 1994 Christian poet and author Jerry Hoffman felt a pressing desire to form a centralized internet site where Christian poets could post the poetic works the Lord had led them to write. After much prayer, he leased server space from Pennet.net the first local Internet provider in his area. With the help of a book on html, the first page was developed and Cross Way Publications' Internet ministry was born. In an effort to finance this venture Jerry published a collection of his poems “Poetry From the Psalms” and dedicated the proceeds from the sale of this book to furthering the Internet outreach of this fledgling company. From its inception until the present time Jerry Hoffman has handled all of the business of Cross Way Publications from the office located in his home. 

Much has happened in the years that have followed. At the present time, Cross Way Publications has expanded to 19928 poems with the works of 1060 Christian poets from around the world represented. Jerry Hoffman's poetry books as well as those from our other poets are being sent to Croatia, Nigeria and South Africa to aid missionaries in those countries. We are also reaching into the prison systems around the country giving Christian inmate poets an opportunity to share their faith through our web site.

The site address has changed periodically as the Internet providers were bought out by larger providers and a need to change our web address was necessitated. In 1998 Cross Way Publications purchased the domain name christianpoetry.org, which has helped to facilitate the changes needed when Internet services move. 

            In keeping with the original objectives, no poet has ever or will ever be required to contribute to the upkeep of this site. All services rendered to Cross Way Publications are done free of charge and monies for it’s operation are garnered in the following ways.

1.      Through the contributions of resident poets and others who are led to partner with this organization.

2.      Through proceeds from the sale of Jerry R. Hoffman’s three books “Poetry From The Psalms”, “Poetry From The Parables” and “Fruit of The Spirit”.

Poets who post on Cross Way Publications’ site are afforded the following opportunities.

1.      An Internet page dedicated solely to the display of their poetic works that is updated free of charge as new poetry is submitted and approved.

2.      Free advertisement of their poetic collections in our on-line bookstore.

5.      The chance to win monetary prizes in Cross Way Publications’ semi-annual poetry contest.

We love to write poetry and feel the need to share it with others, therefore we developed a forum for Christian poets to use to share the message that the Lord has given them with each other and the world.
